About us
In December of ’99 our beaches had been laden with giant timber logs reaching ten meters in length and weighing up to 10 tonnes each. This was the result of a freight-liner that sank off the coast of Madagascar two months prior.
Among the chaos, a local Struisbaai resident saw an opportunity and quickly capitalized on it. Coupled with his passion for people, food and socializing he swiftly made work of these wooden logs and turned them into furniture that would ultimately be used in a restaurant.
From humble beginnings, he opened the doors of Zuidste Kaap Restaurant in January 2000 and in a short amount of time filled up the restaurant with furniture mainly originating from these logs.
Our bar, “Three Oceans Pub” situated inside the restaurant, saw its beginning also as a result from these logs. The chairs, table tops and bar counter were all built from the same logs.
Neels Grobler took ownership of Zuidste Kaap in February 2010. His friendly, warm approach to the restaurant industry makes him successful and certainly the most preferred restaurant in the area.
The relaxing atmosphere, good food and friendly staff, ensures Zuidste Kaap’s popularity among locals and tourists alike.
